“My professional charges are upon a fixed scale, I do not vary them, save when I remit them altogether.” – Sherlock Holmes
Before anything progress is it important to gain an understanding of the problem and the people involved, this mostly takes place over coffee and sometimes wine in which we move towards an agreement on what the desired outcome is, what the perceived problem is and understanding of what may be involved in solving it.
“We must establish a personal connection with each other. Connection before content. Without relatedness, no work can occur.” – Peter Block
After the scope of the engagement had been agreed it is the time to make sure that we arrive at an agreement which has benefits both parties and allows for the flexibility that will be needed to make sure it is the successes.
Once this is in place, we can move forward with confidence that the relationship and remit are understood.
Once everything has been agreed the work begins, at this point, the focus is on the delivery of the agreed outcome, managing the communication and relationship so that everyone is working from an agreed understanding of the situation and the outcome will be a success.
